{"id":191943,"date":"2025-12-09T17:19:55","date_gmt":"2025-12-09T23:19:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kuali.com.mx\/web\/?p=191943"},"modified":"2025-12-09T17:22:27","modified_gmt":"2025-12-09T23:22:27","slug":"investigan-en-la-ug-aceleradores-de-particulas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kuali.com.mx\/web\/2025\/12\/09\/investigan-en-la-ug-aceleradores-de-particulas\/","title":{"rendered":"INVESTIGAN EN LA UG ACELERADORES DE PART\u00cdCULAS"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><em>Kuali\/Guanajuato, Gto.-<\/em><\/strong>La labor principal de Georfrey Humberto Israel Maury Cuna, profesor-investigador del Departamento de F\u00edsica de la Universidad de Guanajuato (UG), se divide entre la docencia y la investigaci\u00f3n en ciencia y tecnolog\u00eda de los aceleradores de part\u00edculas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Su trabajo se explica a trav\u00e9s de dos analog\u00edas clave: los relojes y el autom\u00f3vil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Relojes en colisi\u00f3n: una forma de entender la materia<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Para entender de qu\u00e9 est\u00e1 hecha la materia, los cient\u00edficos utilizan colisionadores para hacer chocar part\u00edculas subat\u00f3micas. El Dr. Maury explica que es algo similar a \"agarrar dos relojes, hacerlos chocar y destruirlos\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Al observar los fragmentos resultantes (engranes, agujas), se puede reconstruir la composici\u00f3n original. Se\u00f1ala que es una \"destrucci\u00f3n en sentido figurado\", ya que la tecnolog\u00eda actual permite \"filmar\" estas colisiones y analizarlas en c\u00e1mara lenta para entender la estructura fundamental de la materia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Carretera, tr\u00e1fico y velocidad: as\u00ed se imagina un acelerador<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Para explicar su \u00e1rea de especializaci\u00f3n, el Dr. Maury utiliza una met\u00e1fora m\u00e1s compleja donde el acelerador no es solo un componente, sino todo el sistema: el autom\u00f3vil (o sus pasajeros). Este&nbsp;representa las part\u00edculas que se desean acelerar, mientras que la carretera es la trayectoria que siguen las part\u00edculas dentro del acelerador. Los obst\u00e1culos y el tr\u00e1fico son otras part\u00edculas o mol\u00e9culas residuales que permanecen en el sistema (ya que es imposible crear un vac\u00edo perfecto).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La especializaci\u00f3n del Dr. Maury son los&nbsp;efectos colectivos. Siguiendo la analog\u00eda anterior, su trabajo consiste en estudiar c\u00f3mo el \"tr\u00e1fico\" (las part\u00edculas residuales) interfiere con el \"autom\u00f3vil\" (el haz principal de part\u00edculas). Su objetivo es dise\u00f1ar soluciones para minimizar estas interferencias y asegurar que las part\u00edculas principales lleguen a su destino con la energ\u00eda y las caracter\u00edsticas deseadas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Aplicaciones de los aceleradores de part\u00edculas<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Por otra parte, el investigador enfatiza que los aceleradores son m\u00e1quinas \"muy vers\u00e1tiles y nobles\". Contrario a la percepci\u00f3n popular, su uso no se limita a la investigaci\u00f3n fundamental. Solo el 1% por ciento de los aceleradores en el mundo se dedican a la ciencia; el otro 99% restante se utiliza en aplicaciones industriales y m\u00e9dicas. Tal es el caso de las terapias contra el c\u00e1ncer para irradiar tumores o la creaci\u00f3n de radiof\u00e1rmacos (sustancias radiactivas de vida muy corta) que se inyectan en pacientes para usarse como marcadores y visualizar tumores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En lo que corresponde a la industria, se usa en el tratamiento de pl\u00e1sticos para mejorar sus propiedades mec\u00e1nicas (resistencia) o est\u00e9ticas (acabados que imitan piel, adherencia de pintura) o en la seguridad aeroespacial, particularmente,&nbsp;el tratamiento del recubrimiento pl\u00e1stico de cables para retardar su ignici\u00f3n en caso de incendio, permitiendo m\u00e1s tiempo para la evacuaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Comparti\u00f3 que ha trabajado en un proyecto para desarrollar un acelerador de part\u00edculas para el&nbsp;precurtido&nbsp;de la piel. Este proceso no reemplaza el m\u00e9todo tradicional, sino que act\u00faa como un pretratamiento, reduciendo significativamente el uso de qu\u00edmicos y agua.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sobre este, indic\u00f3 que la prueba de concepto, realizada en colaboraci\u00f3n con un equipo del Reino Unido, ya ha demostrado su viabilidad. Se trabaj\u00f3 en conjunto con la&nbsp;C\u00e1mara de la Industria de Curtidur\u00eda (CICUR)&nbsp;y empresas locales que aportaron su experiencia en el proceso. Sin embargo, se encuentra en pausa debido a la falta de financiamiento y las limitaciones impuestas por la pandemia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adem\u00e1s de los proyectos de aplicaci\u00f3n local, el equipo del Dr. Maury participa en la vanguardia de la ciencia mundial; en el Gran Colisionador de Hadrones (LHC), en el Consejo Europeo para la Investigaci\u00f3n Nuclear (CERN por sus siglas en franc\u00e9s).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Enfatiz\u00f3 que se est\u00e1 dise\u00f1ando el&nbsp;Futuro Colisionador Circular (FCC). Este ser\u00e1 monumentalmente m\u00e1s grande (aproximadamente 100 Km de circunferencia frente a los 27 Km del LHC) y m\u00e1s potente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Aceleradores de part\u00edculas en la UG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Un dato relevante es que&nbsp;el primer acelerador de part\u00edculas en M\u00e9xico fue creado en el Departamento de Qu\u00edmica de la UG, alrededor de la d\u00e9cada de 1950, record\u00f3 el profesor Maury Cuna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La investigaci\u00f3n al respecto de aceleradores de part\u00edculas no se limita a la f\u00edsica, sino que requiere una amplia gama de especialidades, como la ingenier\u00eda mec\u00e1nica, ingenier\u00eda en materiales, electr\u00f3nica de potencia; ingenier\u00eda de vac\u00edo; computaci\u00f3n y desarrollo de software, sistemas de control y an\u00e1lisis de datos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El Dr. Maury invita a las y los estudiantes interesados en dichas \u00e1reas para sumar su talento en estos proyectos de ciencia y tecnolog\u00eda: \u201cAqu\u00ed vamos a reconocer tu talento, por m\u00e1s peque\u00f1o que consideres que sea; tu talento aqu\u00ed importa\".<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Kuali\/Guanajuato, Gto.-La labor principal de Georfrey Humberto Israel Maury Cuna, profesor-investigador del Departamento de F\u00edsica de la Universidad de Guanajuato (UG), se divide entre la docencia y la investigaci\u00f3n en ciencia y tecnolog\u00eda de los aceleradores de part\u00edculas.
